Linda Brophy Memorial Golf Tournament
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is delighted to recognize Jim Brophy, and his family, as MMRF Spirit of Hope Honorees.
Jim Brophy, and his loving family, were honored by the MMRF Independent Events Program with the Spirit of Hope Award on June 23, 2014 for their outstanding efforts to help the MMRF raise awareness and funds. He started the Linda Brophy Memorial Golf Tournament in 2012 after losing his mother to multiple myeloma. Linda lost her battle after a three year fight at the age of 65.
“It is a nice honor for our family to receive this award and we are proud of the partnership we have with the MMRF” Jim stated. “My mother passed away during Hurricane Irene and many of her friends and family were unable to attend her service so when we decided to honor her with a golf tournament it was perfect because it gave people another option to honor this incredible woman.” The event, that takes place in Hillsborough, NJ, with approximately 200 participants for golf and dinner, has remained an intimate event raising approximately $100,000 to date.
Jim’s entire family has gotten involved in the event but they are no strangers to the MMRF. Both his sister Michelle Brophy Campbell and wife Jill Brophy have run marathons for the MMRF in 2010 and 2011 raising $50,000. Jim and his family look forward to continuing to honor his mother with this great day of golf and friendship to raise money for this worthy cause.
