Memphis Miles for Myeloma
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is delighted to recognize Jana Stressel and her family as MMRF Spirit of Hope Honorees.
Jana Stressel and her husband, Jay, were honored by the MMRF Independent Events Program with the Spirit of Hope Award on November 15, 2014 for their amazing efforts to help the MMRF raise awareness and funds. Jana started the Memphis Miles for Myeloma in 2011 after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2009 and has been fighting ever since.
“There is a reason for me to have this cancer and I believe I have found it.” Jana stated. “I’ve talked to many newly diagnosed patients in the Memphis area who are scared and I have tried to comfort them. Another purpose is my independent fundraiser for the MMRF. I’m so passionate about this event and to finding a cure and I know the MMRF can help me do that.”
Jana’s tenacity and strength is an inspiration to us all. The Memphis Miles for Myeloma has raised over $75,000 for research in just three years. The event has grown from 150 participants to over 500 with no sign of stopping. Jana has rallied her whole community. Her husband and her family has been by her side every step of the way and she has an incredible team of friends and fellow patients helping her.
