Faced with her own mortality, Kathy Giusti, founder of the MMRF, threw the conventional industry rules out of the window. Red tape and bureaucracy became intolerable, life-threatening obstacles to accomplishing the one and only goal of curing cancer. Myeloma attempts to steal time from patients, so the MMRF is racing against the clock every day in order to speed the development of new treatments and cures.
The MMRF is unique in its ability to accelerate everything required to speed the development of new treatments and cures.
The MMRF has had more success than any other cancer-fighting organization because we have unmatched vision, leadership, partnerships, independence, opportunity, influence and results. We are only accountable to our generous supporters and patients everywhere who rely on us.
We are an innovative organization. If we see a flaw in the system, we fix it. If there is a new process that is more efficient, we introduce it. We have replaced unhealthy competition with healthy new forms of collaboration. We leverage technology in powerful new ways. We share tissue samples and support the advancement of any worthy research study. The MMRF has been given credit for not just advancing treatments and cures, but also for reimagining industry methodologies that apply across all cancer research. We have built relationships with the best-in-class partners. The MMRF is speeding forward with significant momentum and our accomplishments are being magnified exponentially.
There won’t just be one cure for cancer, because cancer isn’t just one thing. It’s different across individuals and dynamic within each patient. A “cure” will be found in a combination of unique treatments for each of the various types and subtypes of the disease. Today, some patients are in complete remission. We have tripled life expectancy. Tomorrow, we move forward identifying new targets and developing new treatments. Time is of the essence. This is an urgent work and we measure our progress daily. We will continue to fill our medicine chest of solutions until we have completely eliminated this disease. It’s our reason to be, and every day we are one step closer to the finish line.
With the most respected research and medical industry partners, we have fueled more studies, initiated more trials, developed more treatments, introduced more medicines, and had a far greater impact than any other organization. Nevertheless, no matter how much progress we make, no matter how many lives we save, we will never rest or be satisfied until we have a cure for every patient. Yes, we are curing cancer. No, our work is not yet done. We have industry-leading momentum, but there is still more work to be done and we need your support.
We feel it is our responsibility to set an example and run our business driven by efficiency and results. We consistently outperform our peers in fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency. We direct nearly 90% of our total budget to research and related programming.LEARN MORE
