In the Spotlight
Meet Geoff Rich
In 2002 Geoff Rich and his friend, Kevin Hurd, created a golf tournament to honor Geoff’s father, Alexander Rich, a multiple myeloma patient, and today both the event and Alexander are still going strong. The 8th annual Alexander R. Rich Charity Golf outing was held on August 11, 2011, at the Lebanon Country Club in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. With the support of loyal and generous sponsors, family and friends, 144 people turned out and raised $30,000 for the MMRF, a record for this event. To kick it all off, guests were treated to a night of stand-up comedy the night before the tournament featuring comedian Jasiel Ayala. The next day participants enjoyed a full day of golf, and the event concluded with a special awards dinner hosted by the Rich family.
Geoff and his wife JoJo and their family find this event to be both an opportunity to celebrate their father and an opportunity to experience the power of making a difference. “Organizing, running and participating in the MMRF charity golf outing is one of the most fulfilling things we can do as a family. Not only do we gain peace of mind by helping to find a cure for my father, but we are able to teach our children about the greater good of charitable acts. The MMRF is such a respectable and worthy cause, which is echoed by the many golfers who return year after year,” said Geoff.
A date of August 9th has already been set for the 2012 event, which will again be held at the Lebanon Country Club.
